About this course

Instructors:

  • Steve Touw, Co-Founder & CTO, Immuta
  • Eric Kriner, Solution Architect, Immuta

Course Objectives:

  • Choose appropriate dataset
  • Assess connection string from Identity Management System
  • Explain audit capabilities

In this course, we will discuss how a data analyst can leverage Catalog to shop for an appropriate dataset to be used for reporting needs. In this case, the dataset contains PII information, and the analyst does not have the proper credentials for access. She will request access to the dataset and trigger the approval process. Since Collibra and Immuta are tied to the same Identity Management System, her request is approved, however, the PII data will be anonymized and masked appropriately. Also, her access will be granted for a specific time frame and then rescinded at a specific date automatically. She can begin to build her report, using the BI tool, Superset. And if necessary, PII attributes can be changed and revealed to the user with simple edits in Collibra, resulting in real-time updates in Immuta.

In addition, Immuta provides reporting features, allowing you to track the access and queries to specific assets, such as datasets. If a data breach were to occur and an audit was necessary, a report could be generated listing who accessed a source, the queries, and time/date the source was retrieved.

Collibra makes it easy for data citizens to find, understand and trust the organizational data they need to make business decisions every day. Unlike traditional data governance solutions, Collibra is a cross-organizational platform that breaks down the traditional data silos, freeing the data so all users have access.
