Course Objectives:
- Determine data quality requirements
- Choose quality metrics, control processes and integration
- Develop data or report catalog
The fifth step of the Prescriptive Path is Quality. This step involves determining the quality requirements for critical business and IT assets that have been established. Collaborate with your IT team that may be monitoring, managing quality, doing data profiling. Your data consumers should also be involved to identify your requirements for quality. It’s just not your data owners or application stewards. It’s really the people that use the data that understand their fit for purpose.
Publish is the sixth step of the Prescriptive Path. This step involves publishing the data or report catalog for your consumers so they can find, understand and trust the data much easier. We need to communicate and educate all the consumers on the usage of assets that are in the catalog. Communication and education should be a daily activity but it’s really critical as part of this step. It enables the data consumers to find, select the right data sets, or the right data, use the right report for the right business process in their everyday usage reporting activities. This is also the time to certify all appropriate reporting or usage assets that are available.
