Status Types

[bok-callout]Status Type

A Status Type is a particular condition an Asset can be in for a given period of time during its lifecycle. A Status Type has a unique name. Every Asset Type is assigned a number of possible Status Types it can go through. A Workflow Definition defines the conditions for the transition of an Asset’s Status to another one.

For example, the Asset Type named ‘Business Term’ is assigned with the following possible Status Types: Candidate, Under Review, Accepted, Rejected.

Status Types form the basis for monitoring and executing data governance progress. The software comes packaged with a basic set of Status Types. You can rename these, or create your own custom Status Types.

Packaged Status Types

The packaged Status Types can be browsed by going to Settings menu and then to Statuses pane, as shown below.

They are considered as Assets themselves and therefore are equally identified by a UUID. E.g., when clicking on the Status Type “Accepted”, one arrives at its proper page.

As shown, “Accepted” is a Status Type and its UUID “00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000005009” is highlighted in the URL. All the UUIDs for the packaged Status Types are system-generated at installation, and therefore permanent for every instance of the Collibra software. To support your specific organizational needs, you can relabel the packaged Status Types, which will leave the UUID also unchanged. You can also create your own custom Status Types as explained next.

Custom Status Types

To support your specific organizational needs, you can create custom Status Types, as explained in the Admin guide’s section “Add Status” in Metamodel Configuration.
