[bok-callout]Technology Asset

Technology Asset is (the unique name for) an Asset Type of which the instance assets (and all instances instantiating its subtypes) pertain to the technical data organization.

For example:

  • ‘System’ and ‘Database’ are the names of asset types; both being subtypes of Technology Asset’.
  • ‘CRM’ is the name of an asset of type ‘System’, and therefore also of type ‘Technology Asset’.

This section gives an overview of the technology asset types that come out of the box with the Data Governance Center 4.6. If you are signed in as a user with sysadmin role, you can browse this part of the Operating Model by going to the Settings menu, and then choosing Assignment in the Attributes tab.

The out-of-the-box operating model provides the following Technology Asset Types:

These asset types are by default grouped in a special Domain Type, i.e. a “Technology Asset Domain”.

The following diagram shows the default Relation Types that should set up your system- and database-driven traceability.

An example of a Database is similar to the example for a System. the following Traceability diagram shows the Database “DB2 Tokyo” is the source system for a database table “CUST”.
